Did Cristiano Ronaldo snub French legend Michel Platini?

Cristiano Ronaldo has clearly not forgotten Michel Platini's claim that a member of Germany's World Cup-winning squad should win the Ballon d'Or if this video is anything to go by.

The UEFA president claimed earlier last month that Germany's World Cup win as a team means the individual award should go to one of them, as opposed to clear favourites Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.

"Several players deserve the Ballon d'Or, but I'm of the opinion that in a World Cup year this award should go to a world champion," the Frenchman told EFE.

"This is in line with what I said four years ago when, in my opinion, the prize should have been awarded to a Spanish player."

The expression of opinion from a high-ranking football chief did not sit well with Real, whose star player Ronaldo won the award last year and looks set to make it two in a row.

They published a rebuttal of Platini's comments, which can be read here

Ronaldo remained tight-lipped regarding the affair but as they say actions do speak louder than words and Ronaldo's decision to not wait to shake the hand of the UEFA chief could be seen as a snub.

Ronaldo did, in fact, shake the hand of Platini earlier during the ceremony but this has not stopped social media being awash with talk of the perceived snub.
